VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) In the 70s, a pot-head P.I., is investigating the disappearance of his ex-lover. The case led him to a rabbit-hole of an international drug smuggling operation.
2) Paul Thomas Anderson’s homage to Chinatown (1974).

CONS –
1) A tepid black-comedy with a boring and long screenplay, unnecessarily complicating a mediocre thriller.

QUOTE –
Sortilège: [narrating] Inherent vice in a maritime insurance policy is anything that you can’t avoid. Eggs break, chocolate melts, glass shatters, and Doc wondered what that meant when it applied to ex-old ladies.

PROS –
1) Hubie Dubois, the simpleton town-fool faces mockery and bullying from the entire town. One Halloween, his mother decides to put an end to his ordeal by teaching the town folks a lesson.
2) Adam Sandler played himself with his trademark voice. He is joined by his regular cast members.
3) Hubie Dubois’ multipurpose “thermos”.
4) Ben Stiller reprising his role as Hal L. from Happy Gilmore (1996).

CONS –
1) A one-time watch forgettable horror-comedy.

PROS –
N/A

CONS –
1) While the movie appears like a normal home-invasion comedy like The Ladykillers (1955), Home Alone (1990), or Mousehunt (1997), this movie darker and disturbing than any of those mentioned. This reminds me of The Cable Guy (1996) which by no means was a comedy movie.
2) As the movie progresses, the misery of the young couple getting their life devastated by the trio of real-state scammers makes it unbearable to watch.

VERDICT – 0/5

PROS –

CONS –
1) The expectation was a Rated-R puppet black comedy of Sausage Party (2016) league. This movie is nothing of that sort.
2) An ordinary murder-plot with puppets – a sheer waste of time.

VERDICT – 4/5

PROS –
1) An eerily realistic future movie with cult written all over it. A dim-witted human population controlled by corporate in every possible aspect of life.
2) Terry Crews as U.S. President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho. This is the most memorable character of the movie.
3) Slangs and low “registers” of the English language spoken in the future world got an analogy with the Russo-Eng language developed in “A Clockwork Orange” (1971).
4) This Mike Judge’s magnum opus is an homage to Aldous Huxley, George Orwell, and Cyril M. Kornbluth.

Verdict – 1/5

Pros –
1) Melissa McCarthy as Megan Price – most entertaining character.
2) Chris O’Dowd

Cons –
1) Directionless movie in a cliched story(& clearly there was no editing process).
2) Too long for a Rom-Com
3) This rom-com gives the least importance to Chris O’Dowd & Kristen Wiig’s characters. Total waste.
