PROS –
1) A socially awkward screenwriter suffering from writer’s block while trying to adapt a nonfiction book. It’s a meta plot where real-life screenwriter Charlie Kaufman shares his personal experience while adapting the book.
2) A screenwriter centered movie for screenplay students.
3) Unexpected plot-twists in the final 20 minutes.
4) Chris Cooper’s performance as the real-life eccentric horticulturist John Laroche stands out.

CONS –
1) A boring movie for an average moviegoer.

QUOTE –
Charlie Kaufman: The book has no story. There’s no story.

PROS –
1) A cannabis baron [Mickey] decides to sell-off his empire to a billionaire for $400 million. The billionaire plans to lower down the offer by disclosing one of the locations of Mickey’s operation. This starts a chain of action involving a Russian oligarch, a Chinese gangster, a tabloid editor, a private investigator, and a street gang led by “Coach“.
2) Guy Ritchie in all it’s glory with a Tarantinoesque non-linear screenplay.
3) Opening credit song : David Rawlings – Cumberland Gap, and El Michels Affair – Shimmy Shimmy Ya
4) Excellent casting. Colin Farrell’s character Coach deserves his own spin-off movie.

CONS –
1) The primary theme of this black-comedy is heavily borrowed from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998).
2) Slow-paced and 45 minutes too long for an ordinary comedy film whose entire plot is already revealed the trailer.

PROS –
1) Four nice folks of a scenic village trying to get rid of a corpse who died under mysterious circumstances.
2) The movie’s most memorable aspect is its distinctly beautiful & vividly colorful location, and bright cinematography shot in VistaVision.
3) A lighthearted black-comedy surrounding a dead-body.

VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) Idiosyncratic adventures of an outlandish army medical unit during the Korean War.
2) The fumbling P.A. announcements at regular intervals are the only funny part of the entire movie.

CONS –
1) This writing is nowhere like Catch-22 (1970) which is a far better black-comedy with a military backdrop.
2) Robert Altman’s direction is sloppy and the poor-quality Panavision cinematography is not helping either.

CONS –
1) Even the presence of comedy duo Danny DeVito and Billy Crystal can’t save this film. It’s a laughless disaster taking its primary plot from Alfred Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train (1951).

PROS –

CONS –
1) While the movie appears like a normal home-invasion comedy like The Ladykillers (1955), Home Alone (1990), or Mousehunt (1997), this movie darker and disturbing than any of those mentioned. This reminds me of The Cable Guy (1996) which by no means was a comedy movie.
2) As the movie progresses, the misery of the young couple getting their life devastated by the trio of real-state scammers makes it unbearable to watch.

PROS –
1) A series of unexpected weird events in one unending exhausting night.
2) Howard Shore’s score in addition to Martin Scorsese’s mandatory mix-tape.
3) From the very beginning, the entire thing looks like some sort of coordinated set-up to trap Paul however it all turns up unrelated series of events which makes it more amusing.
4) Full of unforgettable colorful characters [including an essential Cheech & Chong cameo].

PROS –
1) A light-hearted Nazi black-comedy from a POV of a fanatic 10-year-old Nazi kid. A movie for people who don’t have the stomach to watch The Pianist (2002), Life Is Beautiful (1997), or Schindler’s List (1993)
2) Colors and framing give a very distinctive look like a Wes Anderson movie.
3) Great casting
4) Soundtrack: Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand [ The Beatles], Everybody’s Gotta Live [Love], Mama [Roy Orbison], and a German version of Heroes [David Bowie].
