MUSIC – 0
CULT – 1

VERDICT – 4/5

PROS –
1) The movie gives Jesse a much needed proper ending.
2) This movie is ominous in nature from the very first minute. The audience knew what was coming to them.
3) Vince Gilligan’s directorial debut film sticks to its roots with character-driven lengthy Tarantinoesque sequences.
4) Robert Forster as Ed the Disappearer played his parting shot.

VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) A treat for the fanboys of Between Two Ferns.
2) “Walking On A String” by The Nationals Matt Berninger, Phoebe Bridgers

CONS –
1) One time average movie with a cliched and mediocre climax.

Bill Burr: Paper Tiger (2019)

CONTENT – 1
EXECUTION – 1
CULT – 0

VERDICT – 2/3

PROS –
1) Bill Burr got a particular niche audience. We know what to expect from him and he delivered as expected.
2) Extremely politically incorrect not holding back any punches targeting Michelle Obama, male feminists, and even #MeToo.
3) He kinda explained the reason for his temper in the final bit about letting go of his dog and bottling up all the emotion.

CONS –
1) Most of the jokes are somewhat familiar from his multiple appearances on Conan.

QUOTE –
“Someday, there’s going to be the first female president, which means there’s going to be the first male First Lady, And you wait, you fucking wait… The first time that dude opens his mouth about some political shit, you watch all these feminists: ‘You shut the fuck up! It is her time now. She was elected, not you. Go pick out some plates, bitch.’

Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones (2019)

CONTENT – 1
EXECUTION – 1
CULT – 1

VERDICT – 3/3

PROS –
1) Dave Chappelle in all its glory.
2) Louis C.K. did an SNL monologue on child molester and pedophiles. That bit pushed the envelope by making jokes out of this extremely inappropriate topic. Dave Chappelle clearly tore the envelope this time.
3) How Twitter screenshots from yesteryears are destroying careers. How T is different from L, G, & B. How anyone with a dick should shut up on abortion laws. How gun laws can be amended only if black people start hoarding guns.

Seriously, I wanna know. Like, wh-why is it… why is it that… that I can say the word “nigger” with impunity……but I can’t say the word “faggot”?”And she said, “Because, David, you are not gay.” I said, “Well, Renée…I’m not a nigger either.”

Sacred Games (Season 2)

STORY – 0
DIRECTOR – 1
ACTOR – 1
MUSIC – 0
CULT – 0

VERDICT – 2/5

PROS –
1) An Osho like Guru running a drug-fueled mission to bring Sat Yug post-nuclear winter. The plan is executed by a Muhammad bin Qasim fanatic, completing his dream of Gazwa-E-Hind.
2) Full of smart references like Dawood Ibrahim, Karan Johar, RGV, Kangana Ranaut, Divya Bharti, etc.

CONS –
1) The entire Kenya sub-plot doesn’t add anything to the story.
2) The cliffhanger ending is pointless as all the secrets are already out. Also, with most the main character being dead, what’s left for next season?
3) The mob-lynching plot is clearly part of Anurag Kashyap’s personal outrage rather than adding anything to the story.

Aziz Ansari: Right Now (2019)

CONTENT – 1
EXECUTION – 1
CULT – 1

VERDICT – 3/3

PROS –
1) A calmer Aziz post #MeToo, lampooning the hyper-woke culture.
2) The “Nazi-Pizza” bit.
3) The bit on R. Kelly and Michael Jackson, reigniting the argument on separating the man from his art.
4) An emotional climax.

But now, when I see you guys here, it hits me in a different way. I think about what it means that all you guys, you drove down here, you waited in line. And you did all of this stuff just to hear me talk into a microphone for, like, an hour or so. And it means the world to me, ’cause…I saw the world…where I don’t ever get to do this again.
