PROS –
1) A group of friends travels to Sweden to attend a folk-festival of a small community that occurs once every 90 years and they find themselves in the middle of a murderous pagan cult ceremony.

 

 

CONS –
1) 148 minutes run time for a mediocre movie is not at all justified. The writer-director Ari Aster definitely got his own style but this movie is style over substance.
2) It’s a formulaic “cabin in the woods” plot. This time the “cabin” is replaced by a Swedish community and the ghost is replaced by the cult. One can smell the sacrificial murders from a mile.
3) The entire Dani’s sister‘s suicide plot is irrelevant to the story and adds nothing to the movie.

PROS –
1) Probably the most gruesome rated-r movie involving kids.
2) A coming-of-age vampire horror drama.The love story of an aged female vampire with a 12-year-old boy who will eventually become her provider of human blood like Håkan.
3) The scenes involving Eli taking on her victims are spine-chilling. The climactic swimming pool scene with the audiences only seeing the under-water action is terrifying.
4) Virginia’s death scene

 

CONS –
1) Slow screenplay

1) A social satire on contemporary art, censorship and someone’s personal life? What’s the outcome here? What is the story trying to establish?

2) Kung Fury vs Nazi Army : Steet Fighter
3) Epic Characters : Barbarianna, Katana, Hoff 9000 / Hackerman etc.
4) Epic / Sci-Fi / Spoof / Fantasy – all in a shoe-string budget.
5) CGI – Poor but smart

 

Cons –

1) McGruber rip-off.
