Let the Right One In (2008)

STORY – 1
DIRECTOR – 1
ACTOR – 1

CULT – 1

VERDICT – 4/5

PROS –
1) Probably the most gruesome rated-r movie involving kids.
2) A coming-of-age vampire horror drama. The love story of an aged female vampire with a 12-year-old boy who will eventually become her provider of human blood like Håkan.
3) The scenes involving Eli taking on her victims are spine-chilling. The climactic swimming pool scene with the audiences only seeing the under-water action is terrifying.
4) Virginia’s death scene

CONS –
1) Slow screenplay

QUOTE –
Oskar: Are you old?
Eli: I’m twelve. But I’ve been twelve for a long time.

Verdict – 1/5

Pros –

1) Willem Dafoe as “Elvis” – the only character with substance.

Cons –

1) Forgettable half-hearted sci-fi horror. It’s better to watch a “Black Mirror” episode instead.

Edward Dalton: Is this place safe?

Elvis: Living in a world where vampires are the dominant species is about as safe as bare backing a 5 dollar whore.

Thirst (2009)

STORY – 1
DIRECTOR – 1
ACTOR – 1
MUSIC – 0
CULT – 0

Verdict – 3/5

Pros –

1) Love Story of a priest turned reluctant-accidental-vampire.
2) The story is the corner-stone of this movie. From beginning to end the story is the mainstay of this film.It started as a sci-fi medical drama, later it converted into a love-triangle with steamy love-making scenes. The pen-ultimate part is body-horror/slasher and the climax is all about redemption of two lovers to eternity.

Cons –

1) 30 minutes too long.

“No one blames someone
for getting hurt in an accident!
No one gets criticized
for having cancer!
I went there to do good!
So what if I’m a vampire?”
