Pros –
1) Rosamund Pike as Amy Elliott Dunne: One of the greatest villain Hollywood has ever seen (giving “Anton Chigurh” a run for his money)
2) Mid-Way plot twist
3) 149 minutes long but gripping.
4) Non-linear narration.
5) Tyler Perry as Tanner Bolt.

Pros –
1) Christoph Waltz as Blofeld
2) SPECTRE meeting in Rome: the return of a classic villain
3) Bond torture scene
4) Aston Martin: Rome chase
5) Train fight with Dave Bautista
6) Culminating Craig’s series of films together with an overarching story-line.

Cons –
1) No epic boss fight; Blofeld without any backup plans.
2) Bond meets Blofeld without any legwork and escapes conveniently.
3) mediocre opening scene before credit.
4) “Writing’s on the Wall”

VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) An insurance lawyer sent to Berlin to negotiate with the Soviet Union to release a U.S. Air Force pilot in exchange for a Soviet KGB spy. The story from Coen Brothers sounds promising but there not much meat onto it.
2) Janusz Kamiński’s cinematography with some good wide-angle shots is the only saving grace for this movie.
3) The final scene at the Glienicke Bridge.

CONS –
1) Predictable twist and thrills. Anyone interested should watch the 2 minutes trailer and save himself from the ordeal.
2) This movie is a definitive Steven Spielberg’s Oscar bait with Tom Hanks. Another run-of-the-mill period drama.
3) Weak supporting cast. Even Mark Rylance’s performance as Rudolf Abel is overrated.
4) Tediously long with 141 minutes running time.

CULT – 1

Verdict – 4/5

Pros –
1) Cinematography – it’s a bible for people who are learning cinematography.
2) Elements of  black comedy
3) Though the climax is ambiguous, the movie is gripping unlike Fincher’s criminally long “Zodiac“.
4) Chase sequence

Cons –

The Lobster (2015)

CULT – 1

Verdict – 5/5

Pros –
1) Background score
2) Body-horror factor
3) Vigorously romantic
4) Cinematography
5) Supporting cast
6) An uncanny analogy with “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (Léa Seydoux/Nurse Ratched, Blind lover/ lobotomy, final escape)

Cons –
1) Ambiguous climax
2) I watched it as a sci-fi fan completely ignoring the subtle social satire.

1) The Victorian version of the series.
2) Benedict Cumberbatch uncanny resemblance to Jeremy Brett: The definitive Holmes
3) The first half of the episode.
4) Going back & forth in the two eras.

CONS –
1) The Suffragettes twist
2) Annoying Climax & needless twists covered by drug hallucinations.
3) 2 story-lines and no conclusion.
4) It was supposed to be a “One-shot” story.
