VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) As funny as the prequel. A new plot for the sequel instead of recycling the same story.
2) Jennifer Aniston as Dr. Julia is as impressive as before. Kevin Spacey prison visits were hilarious.
3) The wobbling trio of Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day ensures the audiences will get their money’s worth.
4) A good supporting cast including Christoph Waltz & Jonathan Banks. Chris Pine as Rex surprises in his comedic role. Jamie Foxx as MF Jones returns for one hell of a police car chase

VERDICT – 5/5

PROS –
1) Seth Gordon’s laugh-riot about three employees trying to murder their respective bosses with the help of a video bootlegger called “MF” Jones. That’s how you make a good black-comedy movie.
2) Jennifer Aniston as Dr. Julia. She still keeps on surprising the audiences with her various shades.
3) Great supporting cast completed with Kevin Spacey & Colin Farrell.
4) Even in the presence of Jason Sudeikis & Jason Bateman, Charlie Day as Dale clearly stole the show.
5) End credits: How You Like Me Now? (The Heavy song)

Verdict – 2/5

Pros –
1) Despite being a Harry Potter Spin-off, it doesn’t carry the burden of being a prequel. It’s somewhat enchanting for younger audiences like watching Steven Spielberg’s Hook.
2) CGI – great action sequences especially towards the climax with Obscurus
3) Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski & Alison Sudol as Queenie: This charming couple keeps the film alive with their positive presence.
4) Johnny Depp appearance in the climax as Gellert Grindelwald – his star presence can never be undermined.

Cons –
1) Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander: Was he acting to be a weird introvert or was he playing himself? Anyways not the best actor for this colorful role. Also, Ezra Miller is miscast.
2) The plot is predictable after watching 30 minutes of the movie.
3) 133 minutes for a fantasy film targetting young audiences?

Verdict – 5/5

Pros –

1) Eerie soundtrack and cinematography along with signature dead-pan dialogue delivery from lead actors.
2) Yorgos Lanthimos truly inherited the legacy of body horror from Cronenberg. From the very scene of the film, the subtle body horror factor dominates the plot.
3) Barry Keoghan as Martin – the most punchable face in the town.
4) Screenplay – it’s shocking that the movie is not even nominated for any Golden Globe or BAFTA award for at least this category.

Cons –

1) Being a fantasy horror film, many questions are left unanswered like how Martin’s curse was actually working.

Pros –
1) It’s having all the elements of a Coen Bros. film. Gory with dark humor- very much like Fargo .
2) Principled Goodfellas.
3) Little conversation like Jules and Vincent in Pulp Fiction. Lollipop man, purgatory, Uzi, midget, black vs white war etc.
4) Uncertain climax

Verdict – 5/5

Pros –
1) Background score
2) Body-horror factor

6) An uncanny analogy with “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (Léa Seydoux/Nurse Ratched, Blind lover/ lobotomy, final escape)

Cons –
1) Ambiguous climax
2) I watched it as a sci-fi fan completely ignoring the subtle social satire.
