VERDICT – 1/5

PROS–
1) A world of Superheroes and Supervillains – however, the plot of AEGIS is not exploited too much.

CONS–
1) The mediocre supporting cast.
2) If you’re making a comedy, go full-throttle like Future Man. Half-measures will give you sub-standard output.

Tick: Yeah.

1) Willem Dafoe as “Elvis” – the only character with substance.

Verdict – 0/5

Pros –

1) Surreal meta-drama full of analogies, motifs, and symbolism

Cons –

1) Incomprehensible, pretentious and boring like an abstract art. What’s the purpose of making a feature film if the main intention is to confuse average audience? It’s a movie only for film festivals.
2) Unexplained weird time-leaps. Halfway through, the movie stops making any sense at all.

Verdict – 5/5

Pros –
1) The plight and love-story of a small-town struggling boxer trying to overcome unemployment, casteism & faulty sports infrastructure.
2) Jimmy Shergill & Ravi Kishan first encounter.
3) Shravan’s outburst on his superior officer. The most fulfilling scene of the movie. Evils of casteism are seamlessly added to the plot. While Sanjay Kumar is facing casteist jibe from Bhagwan Das Mishra, Shravan is facing a revengeful treatment from a lower caste officer.
4) Anurag Kashyap smoothly included beef-lynching and jingoism in this sports drama without any fuss – genius.
5) Juicy dialogues along with great music is always a USP of Kashyap’s movies. Brave soundtrack.

Cons –
1) Less screen-time to Ravi Kishan.
2) Rocky inspired climax.

1) Effortless end of 3 important characters: Hogun, Volstagg, and Fandral.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)

STORY – 1
DIRECTOR – 1
ACTOR – 1
MUSIC – 1
CULT – 1

Verdict – 5/5

Pros –

1) Eerie soundtrack and cinematography along with signature dead-pan dialogue delivery from lead actors.
2) Yorgos Lanthimos truly inherited the legacy of body horror from Cronenberg. From the very scene of the film, the subtle body horror factor dominates the plot.
3) Barry Keoghan as Martin – the most punchable face in the town.
4) Screenplay – it’s shocking that the movie is not even nominated for any Golden Globe or BAFTA award for at least this category.

Cons –

1) Being a fantasy horror film, many questions are left unanswered like how Martin’s curse was actually working.
