VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) The story begins from where we left last time. Herzog and his zombie army attack a sleepy Norwegian town where they got retaliation from Martin and his Russian dead army.
2) Unlike it’s predecessor, this movie dives into horror-comedy from the very beginning. The nerdy but equally fiery Zombie Squad doubles the fun.

CONS –
1) The movie is undoubtedly enjoyable however Tommy Wirkola this time borrowed too much from Edgar Wright.

VERDICT – 4/5

PROS
1) A “cabin in the woods” plot where a group of students on their vacation in the snowy mountains are being hunted by Nazi zombies. The history of the Nazi atrocities as told by the mysterious hiker in the beginning of the movie sets a strong back story.
2) While the first half is strictly horror, the second half resembles Shaun of the Dead (2004) like comedy when the feisty students are fighting the undead.
3) It’s a run of the mill plot but still enjoyable.

CONS –

Martin: Hello, 9-1-1? We’ve been attacked by what look like German zombies from the Second World War! And we set our cabin on fire by accident!

PROS –
1) Some high adrenaline action sequences.
2) Zombie battle in aircraft.
3) Surreal climactic scenes of the human battle against zombies.

CONS –

2) Vaccination saved the world – that’s the primary plot.

VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) Matt Smith as Parson Collins gave suffiecient comic relief.

CONS –
1) A preposterous and futile attempt to amalgamate Jane Austen’s classic with zombie fiction.
2) Mediocre fight and action scenes.
3) We already have definitive versions of the story with the 1995 BBC TV Series and Joe Wright’s 2005 movie. This movie was supposed to put more weight on the zombie plot but the love story dominated the plot.

VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) Just like the first installment, it’s a nice enjoyable zombie-comedy. The movie gets into the mood from the Columbia/SONY intro itself.
2) Luke Wilson as Albuquerque
3) One scene where Columbus and Flagstaff are wrangling over their respective rules and commandments.

CONS –
1) Nothing extraordinary added to the franchise, rather it’s a sequel too late.

VERDICT – 2/5

PROS –
1) A story with great potential if it was made with a better cast. This movie belongs to Judd Apatow and his “Frat Pack”.
2) A romantic soundtrack with Feist, Bon Iver, M83, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Guns&Roses.

CONS –
1) A half-hearted effort from Jonathan Levine

VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) A good story with great potential wasted due to a weak screenplay and lack of star-cast.

CONS –
1) A zombie comedy trying to recreate the magic of Shaun of the Dead (2004) and Zombieland (2009) but can’t catch up due to weak screenplay and direction.
2) Except for Karan Soni, the entire cast is disappointing. Brenton Thwaites in the lead makes no sense.

PROS –
1) Opening plane shot with paratroopers.
2) End-credits: Nas-Bridging The Gap
3) Corporal Ford vs Captain Wafner

CONS –
1) The movie blended two of the most bankable plots of World War II – Operation Overlord and Josef Mengele. Unfortunately, this zombie movie never clicked.
2) Not a single reliable actor with any screen-presence.
3) The entire movie got a very B-grade look.

Verdict – 0/5

Pros –
1) Study of paranoia while alone

Cons –
1) In an era of “The Walking Dead”, this movie is redundant and sub-standard
2) Meaningless climax – in fact, there is no climax.
3) Sarah – unnecessary sub-plot adding nothing to the story.

VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) Initial few minutes create curiosity about the story.

CONS –
1) Bad acting and bad direction ruined this film with a potential plot.
2) Most zombie-apocalypse movies are full of bloodshed & violence while this movie fails in this department too.
