VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) A young graduate with a literature degree starts to work part-time at a local amusement park. The premise is a workplace rom-com.
2) The 1980s soundtrack is the only good thing about this movie.

CONS –
1) A promising workplace comedy wasted by the director of Superbad (2007). All the boring and sappy sub-plot were highlighted while the most colorful characters played by Kristen Wiig & Bill Hader were sidelined.
2) A pretentious movie without anything new to offer.

QUOTE –
Sue : What are you majoring in?
Joel: Russian literature and Slavic languages.
Sue : Oh wow, that’s pretty interesting. What career track is that?
Joel: Cabby, hot dog vendor, marijuana delivery guy. The world is my oyster.

VERDICT – 4/5

PROS –
1) It’s a great workplace hang-out movie. An entire day with the Shenaniganz restaurant staff.
2) A hidden gem like many Mike Judge movies. It belongs to the league of Office Space (1999), Clerks (1994), etc.
3) It’s a fun watch with relatable characters and clever jokes.

Verdict – 2/5

Pros –
1) James Bond themed opening credit scene.
2) X-Force recruitment with Brad Pitt Cameo before they MacGrubered
3) Zazie Beetz as Domino and her superpower – luck.
4) Post-credits scenes. We equally hate X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Gavin Hood’s version of Deadpool.
5) Rednecks discussing toilet papers. Was that a product placement for Huggies Baby Wipes?

Cons –
1) Are we suppose to take this meta-plot seriously? This film is toying with the X-Men timeline and creating a fiasco. While the movie is good entertainment full of good jokes and good one-liners but Deadpool is breaking the 4th wall and giving pop-culture references to justify every plot hole.
2) So basically Cable travel back in the past to alter future by killing Firefist, and Deadpool is trying to save him to attain salvation while the prime-villain “headmaster” is killed by Dopinder.

Quote –
Cable: Who are you?
Wade Wilson: I’m Batman.

Verdict – 0/5

Pros –

1) The open-ended climax

2) proximity, trajectory, course correction – enough with the space talk !

Verdict – 3/5

Pros –

1) Music – not great but at least they tried
2) The Surprise odd couple – Samuel L. Jackson & Salma Hayek
3) Gary Oldman as Dukhovich – unrecognizable !

Cons –

1) A similar comic theme like last years’ under-rated The Nice Guys – but this movie is burdened with a cliched plot.
2) Generic potboiler – One-time watch only.

Verdict – 4/5

Pros –
1) Brave opening credit
2) Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson / Deadpool: staying true to his character
3) Breaking the 4th wall
4) Multiple X-men / Pop-culture references
5) T. J. Miller as Weasel
6) Leslie Uggams as Blind Al: the best thing about this movie

Cons –
1) Generic origin story
2) Shallow character development
3) Negasonic Teenage Warhead & Colossus

Quote –
Blind Al: Looks aren’t everything.

Wade Wilson: Looks *are* everything. You ever heard David Beckham speak? It’s like he mouth-sexed a can of helium. Think Ryan Reynolds got this far on his superior acting method?
