Verdict – 5/5

Pros –

1) An ordinary movie catapulted by the final scene. The concept of Split personalities is known and explored numerous times. However the character of “The Beast” with superpower strength and bulletproof skin separates this movie from a psychological thriller. The final scene with David Dunn vindicates the entire plot.
2) The courage of M. Night Shyamalan returning to make the sequel and hiding it all along.
3) This mainly serves as an anthology film in the MNS universe and the sequel will be a real treat for all Unbreakable fans.

Verdict – 1/5

Pros –
1) Naomi Watts as Betty / Diane Selwyn
2) Sunset Blvd with a twist
3) The audition scene

Cons –
1) The film is labeled as neo-noir/thriller/mystery but it’s a psychological thriller.I’m feeling cheated.

Evelyn Stoker: You know, I’ve often wondered why it is we have children in the first place. And the conclusion I’ve come to is… At some point in our lives we realize things are screwed up beyond repair. So we decide to start again. Wipe the slate clean. Start fresh. And then we have children. Little carbon copies we can turn to and say, “You will do what I could not. You will succeed where I have failed.” Because we want someone to get it right this time. But not me… Personally speaking I can’t wait to watch life tear you apart.

VERDICT  – 4/5

PROS –
1) The lovechild of V for Vendetta & Fight Club.
2) Plot twists revealing the psychological state of the main protagonist
3) Christian Slater is a great addition to the cast.
4) A realistic approach to hacking.

CONS –
1) The first few episodes were just great but later episodes including the climax was a letdown.
2) Martin Wallström as Tyrell Wellick: discount American Psycho (2000).
3) All in all, it’s a Fight Club rip-off. No motivation to watch the second season.

QUOTE –
Edward Alderson: Is any of it real? I mean look at this. Look at it. A world built on fantasy.Synthetic emotions in the form of pills. Psychological warfare in the form of advertising. Mind-altering chemicals in the form of food. Brainwashing seminars in the form of media. Controlled isolated bubbles in the form of social networks.

Real?

You wanna talk about reality? We haven’t lived in anything remotely close to it since the turn of the century. Turn it off, take out the batteries. Digital displays, hypnotizing us into the biggest slumber mankind has ever seen. You’d have to dig pretty deep, kiddo before you can find anything real.
