VERDICT – 2/5

PROS –
N/A

CONS –
1) So far the worst season of the series. There was not a single sub-plot in the entire series worth watching. I’m clearly done with Preacher now.
2) The climax was rushed and unfulfilling.

Preacher: Thank You? For what? Kids with cancer? The Kardashians?

VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) The post-World War I saga of Shelby crime family. A definitive role for Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, the head honcho of the gangster family also fighting his PTSD.
2) Sam Neill as Major Campbell, a no-nonsense officer on a mission under the order of Winston Churchill.
3) The greatest asset of this show is its fantastic cinematography and the brave soundtrack especially featuring Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, right from the opening theme song “Red Right Hand” to great tracks like “Brother, My Cup Is Empty.”
4) Great Costume Design.

CONS –
1) The primary run-of-the-mill theme of the rise of a gangster family is now done to death.

Freddie Thorne: You think I can’t handle Tommy Shelby?
Aunt Polly: You can’t. I’m having trouble these days and I’m twice the man you are.

CULT – 1

Verdict – 5/5

Pros –
1) Best season so far. While most of the season 2 was spent at Denis’ dilapidated house, this season was at Angelville. Probably the best supernatural black-comedy on TV right now.
2) Exciting new characters like Satan and Allfather were introduced however Betty Buckley as Marie “Gran’ma” L’Angelle and Colin Cunningham as T.C. will take the top spot.
3) Each episode was better than the previous one with the story unfolding with new subplots and new characters.

Cons –
1) “Les Enfants du Sang” – this entire sub-plot for Cassidy was boring.

Verdict – 5/5

Pros –

1) A perfect sci-fi mind-fuck extravaganza – just one notch below Inception
2) Who came first – Baby Jane or Parents Joe ? Before establishing the predestination paradox – the movie also establishes this chicken-egg-paradox.
3) Sarah Snook – meaty role.
4) Tight screenplay with sweet 97 minutes running time.

Cons –

Verdict – 4/5

Pros –
1) The concept and story
2) Angel Of Verdun and Her Sword
3) Mimics; A new look for aliens (best since District 9)
4) The boss battle in the Louvre Pyramid.
5) After “Oblivion”, another defining Sci-Fi for Tom Cruise
6) Europe as the battleground ; The Beach Invasion (a nod to Normandy Landings)

Cons –
1) Bad choice for the movie title. (Just like Oblivion)
