Ip Man 4: The Finale (2019)

STORY – 1
DIRECTOR – 1
ACTOR – 1
MUSIC – 0
CULT – 0

VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) An emotional and befitting end of this fan-favorite franchise. The climactic scene where Ip Man asks his son to film his demonstration of Wing Chun on the wooden dummy, knowing that soon he’ll soon succumb to cancer is extremely moving.
2) A much better movie than Ip Man 3 (2015).
3) Danny Chan is definitive Bruce Lee double. His street-fight sequence is probably the best scene in the entire movie.

CONS –
1) Average fight choreography.

Ip Man 2

ACTOR – 1

Verdict – 3/5

Pros –
1) Sammo Hung’s screen presence
2) Louis Fan returning as Kam Shan-Chau
3) The “school ” struggle in Hong-Kong

Cons –
1) The final duel – not easy to digest that a Wing Chun Master who can decimate 10 fighters at a time will be on back-foot while fighting a heavyweight boxer.
2) The same old story

Ip Man: You want to learn Wing Chun?
Wong Shun Leung: Maybe. Just checking it out. I don’t know what Wing Chun is.
Ip Man: Let me give you an introduction. As a matter of fact, Wing Chun is a close combat style from the South…
Wong Shun Leung: No need to tell me all this. Let’s just fight. I’ll pay you the school fees if I lose.
Ip Man: Ok. I am Ip Man of Wing Chun.
