CULT – 0

VERDICT – 2/5

PROS –
1) Leonard Cohen’s songs give a distinct touch to the movie.
2) Hugh Millais as Butler is excellent in that small role. The bargaining scene between Warren Beatty and him is one of the worth-watching scenes of the movie.

CONS –
1) Annoyingly dark cinematography, sloppy editing.
2) An over-rated and boring movie of little consequences. Julie Christie is hardly anywhere.

VERDICT – 4/5

PROS –
1) An extraordinary paranoia thriller with 9 National Guards running for their lives when the tables are turned.
2) The bayou; the swamps; the entire background of this in-house-Vietnam movie is exasperating.
3) The unsettling dialogue-less climax with the last 2 remaining soldiers trying to escape the Cajuns.
4) Parlez Nous à Boire

CONS –
1) A weak cast but still a strong movie.

Verdict – 5/5

PROS –
1) “Anton Chigurh” meets “The Man Who Wasn’t There” in “Fargo”.
2) Blizzard gunfight
3) Billy Bob Thornton as Lorne Malvo
4) Keith Carradine as Lou Solverson / Bob Odenkirk as Chief Bill Oswalt
5) Episode 9: A Fox, a Rabbit, and a Cabbage
6) The shooting rampage in Fargo, North Dakota
7) Martin Freeman as Lester Nygaard: His metamorphosis

CONS –
1) Allison Tolman as Deputy Molly Solverso: mono expression face
2) Unlike “Breaking Bad”, the screenplay is full of loopholes and deus ex machina

Lorne: Lester, is this what you want? … Yes or no?
Lester: Yes.
