VERDICT – 4/5

PROS –
1) A movie documenting a dismaying experience of a naive gigolo from Texas in New York, who befriends a crippled bum.
2) This is possibly one of the most compelling performance from Dustin Hoffman as the penniless limping con-man “Ratso“.
3) ‘Everybody’s Talkinby Harry Nilsson.

CONS –
1) It’s an art-house drama about the cold-hearted city of New York without any entertainment value.

VERDICT – 5/5

PROS –
1) A canoeing adventure gone wrong for 4 friends.
2) The fascinating anti-establishmentarian character of Lewis played by Burt Reynolds primarily in the first half of the movie.
3) The male-rape scene was shocking and disturbing. There is some serious amount of body-horror in this thriller. Drew’s badly twisted corpse, Lewis’s broken femur sticking out was one unbearable sight to see.
4) Dueling Banjos

CONS –
N/A

QUOTE –
Lewis: Machines are gonna fail. And the system’s gonna fail. Then…
Ed: And then what?
Lewis: Then survival. Who has the ability to survive. That’s the game: Survive.
Ed: And you can’t wait for it to happen, can you?

CULT – 1

VERDICT – 4/5

PROS –
1) The huge production value for an almost unadaptable novel from Joseph Heller. It’s the Apocalypse Now (1979) of black-comedy.
2) Great ensemble of actors including Alan Arkin, Jon Voight, Anthony Perkins, Martin Balsam, and a cameo from the legend Orson Welles.
3) The wise old man in whorehouse.
4) Exceptional cinematography and editing.
5) Milo Minderbinder: the embodiment of capitalism mashed with Nazi ideology.
6) Bob Newhart as the reluctant bumbling Major Major

CONS –
1) Needed a better screenplay to keep the audiences hooked.

QUOTE –
1st Lt. Milo Minderbinder: What’s good for M & M Enterprises will be good for the country.

Verdict – 2/5

Pros –
1) Despite being a Harry Potter Spin-off, it doesn’t carry the burden of being a prequel. It’s somewhat enchanting for younger audiences like watching Steven Spielberg’s Hook.
2) CGI – great action sequences especially towards the climax with Obscurus
3) Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski & Alison Sudol as Queenie: This charming couple keeps the film alive with their positive presence.
4) Johnny Depp appearance in the climax as Gellert Grindelwald – his star presence can never be undermined.

Cons –
1) Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander: Was he acting to be a weird introvert or was he playing himself? Anyways not the best actor for this colorful role. Also, Ezra Miller is miscast.
2) The plot is predictable after watching 30 minutes of the movie.
3) 133 minutes for a fantasy film targetting young audiences?

Newt Scamander: I think you’ll find the best wizarding school in the world is Hogwarts.
Queenie: *Hogwash*.
