VERDICT – 4/5

PROS –
1) The cat and mouse game between an FBI agent and a young talented con-man in the 1960s.
2) Christopher Walken as Frank Abagnale Sr. gave an extremely touching performance of a heartbroken person who wasn’t able to recover from the shock of losing his home and family after encountering tax problems with the IRS.
3) There is Steven Spielberg charm all over the screenplay which makes even a con-man an adorable character.
4) One of the most memorable Leonardo DiCaprio roles.

CONS –

QUOTE –
Frank Abagnale Sr.: Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse, wouldn’t quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Gentlemen, as of this moment, I am that second mouse.

VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) Young schoolboys hired as cowboys for a cattle ride took revenge of their mentor/employer.
2) Bruce Dern played the role of a compelling villain especially during his duel with John Wayne.

CONS –
1) This movie is gloomy even by conservative standards. John Wayne played a rough rancher with no nuisance even when dealing with teenage kids.
2) The death of John Wayne’s character was unexpected and watching as a fan, it was very distressing to see him die on-screen.

QUOTE –
Jebediah Nightlinger: I regret trifling with married women. I’m thoroughly ashamed at cheating at cards. I deplore my occasional departures from the truth. Forgive me for taking your name in vain, my Saturday drunkenness, my Sunday sloth. Above all, forgive me for the men I’ve killed in anger … and those I am about to.

VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook, & Bob Hoskins as Smee are the saving grace of this annoyingly childish movie. Captain Hook‘s entrance with Smee witty one-liners is the only well-written scene.
2) Pirate baseball match.

CONS –
1) Over-theatrical acting by most actors. Julia Roberts character as Tinker Bell is excessively irritating in particular. The scenes with Lost Boys are another headache.
2) Tediously formulaic Spielberg family movie.

Captain Hook: I already have.

Verdict – 5/5

Pros –

1) Fast paced – action packed – to the point. Only star war film with no annoying sub-plot.
2) AT-AT, hyperspace, light-saber fight – what more a fan can ask !
3) Darth Vader in his prime.
4) CGI likenesses of Peter Cushing and Carrie Fisher is criticized in some media forums and I disagree with it. If we can recreate our favorite characters for the story, there is nothing wrong with that. It gives more authenticity to the movie.
5) K-2SO & Chirrut Îmwe are the best outcomes.
6) Star destroyer crash scene
