Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)

CULT – 1

VERDICT – 5/5

PROS –
1) Four friends trying to pay off their debt of £500,000 to a crime lord, led to a fiasco involving various parties fighting for weed, cash and two antique shotguns.
2) British-humour.
3) A good collection of songs in the soundtrack. “The Payback” by James Brown was played at just the right time.
4) Almost all characters are distinct with their own colorful antics.
5) Hilarious cliffhanger climax.

CONS –
1) Ruined for anyone who’s already watched Phir Hera Pheri (2006). The Bollywood version has the audacity to copy the story without giving any credit to Guy Ritchie.

5) Jason Statham’s monologues

QUOTE –
Rick Ford: I once used defibrillators on myself. I put shards of glass in my fuckin’ eye. I’ve jumped from a high-rise building using only a raincoat as a parachute and broke both legs upon landing; I still had to pretend I was in a fucking Cirque du Soleil show! I’ve swallowed enough microchips and shit them back out again to make a computer. This arm has been ripped off completely and re-attached with *this* fuckin’ arm. During the threat of an assassination attempt, I appeared convincingly in front of Congress as Barack Obama.I watched the woman I love get tossed from a plane and hit by another plane mid-air. I drove a car off a freeway on top of a train while it was on fire. Not the car, *I* was on fire.

Verdict – 0/5

Pros –
1) Antonio Banderas as Galgo

Cons –
1) It fails its core fan-group; No great action scenes
2) Wasting time with new-comers while seasoned Expendables are just bench-warming.
3) Bad timing and overexposure of Arnold. (He needs to work out)
4) Why Patrick Hughes?
5) Mel Gibson fails the expectations if you are expecting a JCVD.
