VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) Some good naval battle sequences wrapped up in 91-minutes running time.

CONS –
1) For a generation who grew up on submarine films like Das Boot (1981), The Hunt for Red October (1990), U-571 (2000), etc., this movie is quite redundant and completely avoidable. The bombardment of nautical jargon and navy battle lingo is not helping either.
2) Tom Hanks gave another formulaic performance which is not his mistake though. He’s a seriously typecasted in such roles now.

VERDICT – 4/5

PROS –
1) The story is formulaic, the climax is predictable but the movie is still a good watch especially for young-adult audiences
2) Pat Morita’s performance as Mr. Miyagi is the role of a lifetime.

CONS –
1) For a karate themed movie, the action is quite underwhelming.

Miyagi: To make honey, young bee need young flower, not old prune.

VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) The final flashback provides a better understanding of the entire movie. A tormented kid took his revenge from his parents and grows up to become a psycho.

CONS –
1) Apart from a few regular jump-scares, it’s a stale movie with a predictable outcome.

The Boys (Season 1)

CULT – 1

VERDICT – 4/5

PROS –
1) A world where very familiar super-heroes with shady origins are working for a corporate.
2) Eric Kripke chose the perfect subject for his latest project. We live in a time where comic-book superheroes are having their golden-era in Hollywood thanks to MCU. Kudos to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for their 3rd consecutive super-hero black-comedy after Preacher and Future Man.
3) Antony Starr as Homelander. The mash-up of Superman and Captain America is the most fascinating character of all the “Supes”. Flight 37 sequence was most-shocking scene of this season.

CONS –

Butcher: What’s Sporty Spice up to?
MM: Who?
Butcher: Sporty fucking Spice. What is she up to?
MM: I don’t know.
Butcher: Exactly. How about Posh? You know what she’s doing?
MM: I don’t understand.
Butcher: Making clothes for anorexics. Right? Not exactly a growth market. And Baby? You know what she’s doing?
Fuck all. Not even page six of the Daily Mail. And Scary Spice? Up to her eyeballs in lawsuits and sex tapes. Ginger, on the other hand, has released three albums. Passion, Schizophonic and Scream If You Wanna Go Faster. They’ll all make your ears bleed. You see, when they’re apart, they’re absolute fucking rubbish. But, you put them together, they’re the goddamn fucking Spice Girls.

MM: How do you know so much about the Spice Girls?
