VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) Presence of two stalwarts – Burt Lancaster & Kirk Douglas.
2) Cinematography and overall direction make this movie a good hang-out movie like Rio Bravo (1959).
3) “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral”, sung by Frankie Laine

CONS –
1) Slow-paced screenplay with mediocre climactic gun-fight.

QUOTE –
Dr. John ‘Doc’ Holliday: I’m a gambler. Money’s just a tool of my trade.
Wyatt Earp: Of course, you will guarantee you won’t lose.
Dr. John ‘Doc’ Holliday: I never lose. You see, poker’s played by desperate men who cherish money. I don’t lose because I have nothing to lose, including my life.

VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) All the generic elements of a John Wayne western are present in this movie including the unmissable John Wayne “walk”
2) Dean Martin’s eye trick.

CONS –
1) A plain western was made murkier with weird climactic events.
2) One time watch.

QUOTE –
Bud Elder: I’m going with you. I can draw pretty fast. We can be famous — like the Dalton Brothers!
John Elder: They’re famous — but they’re just a little bit dead. They were hung!

Cons –
1) La Boeuf‘s death was unexpected.

VERDICT – 5/5

PROS –
1) Tarantino created the character of the movie-buff Clarence on himself working in a video store. (Watching Sonny Chiba triple feature / Working in a comic store and discussing Spiderman 1 on his date / discussing Elvis’ rockability as pick-up lines).
2) Elvis appearing as a Jesus like metor.
3) Even minor characters are memorable. Gary Oldman as Drexl the pimp, Bum Brad Pitt.
