PROS –
1) A flawless and faithful adaptation of Frank Miller’s story which recounts Jim Gordon‘s first year in Gotham City, and Batman’s first year as a crime-fighter.
2) The animation quality did justice to the story. Bryan Cranston’s voice acting as Jim Gordon is cherry on top.

VERDICT – 3/4

CONS –
1) Although it’s a well-made feature-length Batman movie, it’s an underwhelming adaptation of the original source.
2) The strongest aspect of Batman : Hush comic book is it’s art by Jim Lee. Unfortunately, the art quality in this animated version is substandard.

QUOTE –
Catwoman: You and your goddamn code. And you’ll die because of it, you know this, right? Will that make it all better?
Batman: Without a code, I’m no better than them.

Batman: I’m not sure what you are or where you come from. But my instincts tell me you’re to be trusted. Make no mistake, I have a $70,000 sliver of a radioactive meteor to stop the one from Metropolis. All I need for you is a penny for a book of matches.

Superman/Doomsday (2007)

2) The nameless Robot from Fortress of Solitude plays a key role in getting Superman back to life.

Joker (2019)

STORY – 1
DIRECTOR – 1
ACTOR – 1
MUSIC – 1
CULT – 1

VERDICT – 5/5

PROS –
1) Some actors like Jack Nicholson and Jim Carrey are born to play the role of Joker. They could nail this role anytime with a good director. Heath Ledger gave an everlasting performance thanks to visionary Christopher Nolan. Joaquin Phoenix’s performance reflects his hard work and dedication. Seeing his body of work, it’s not surprising to get such performance from him
2) I’ve always considered Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver (1976) as the ultimate lonely man. Even Gotham City in this movie looks like a decaying NY. He was always one step away from being a super-villain like Joker and he kinda became one. The personality of Arthur Fleck has a stark resemblance to Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver (1976) and Rupert Pupkin from The King of Comedy (1982). The presence of Robert De Niro completes the circle.
3) Batman’s original universe is built around Thomas Wayne being a saintly figure who died trying to redeem Gotham. Here he appears as a negative character with the possibility of being Joker’s father.
4) Interestingly, Joaquin Phoenix was part of a weird controversy in David Letterman’s show. Now after this movie, any late-night show host would think twice before inviting him.
5) All in all, it’s a decent origin movie for both Joker and Batman.
6) Songs: “That’s Life” and “Rock and Roll Part 2”.

CONS –
