VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) A socially awkward screenwriter suffering from writer’s block while trying to adapt a nonfiction book. It’s a meta plot where real-life screenwriter Charlie Kaufman shares his personal experience while adapting the book.
2) A screenwriter centered movie for screenplay students.
3) Unexpected plot-twists in the final 20 minutes.
4) Chris Cooper’s performance as the real-life eccentric horticulturist John Laroche stands out.

CONS –
1) A boring movie for an average moviegoer.

QUOTE –
Charlie Kaufman: The book has no story. There’s no story.

VERDICT – 3/5

PROS –
1) An inexperienced man is made the president of a company as part of a stock scam.
2) The fictional invention of the “hula hoop” is the central element of the plot.
3) A comedy movie with caricaturish stock characters. The dystopian mailroom of Hudsucker Industries was surreal.

CONS –
1) The climactic fantasy element of freezing time by stopping the giant clock was baffling. The supernatural element doesn’t fit with the movie.

VERDICT – 1/5

PROS –
1) A teenage high-school girl got informed that she’s a Chosen One, destined to kill vampires.
2) Some good acrobatic fight scenes.

CONS –
1) This coming-of-age vampire movie is all style over substance. Joss Whedon seems too much inspired by An American Werewolf in London (1981) and tried to recreate something similar.
2) A one time watch horror-comedy without a single memorable character. The boss villain Lothos (played by Rutger Hauer) was equally lame.

QUOTE –
Andy: They had this look in their eyes, totally cold, animal. I think they were young Republicans.

Verdict – 4/5

Pros –
1) Cedric the Entertainer as Gus Petch – the man deserves an Oscar for that short role with his iconic catchphrase – I’m gonna nail your ass!
2) Jonathan Hadary as Heinz, the Baron Krauss von Espy – he stole the entire courtroom scene.
3) Billy Bob Thornton plot twist. Marylin, the ruthless golddigger, planned the perfect revenge but love overshadowed vengeance.
4) Fast paced well-written screenplay. George Clooney & Catherine Zeta-Jones had an amazing chemistry as a power couple.

3) Great editing and score.
4) The climactic scene where Abby drives the knife through Visser’s hand.

Ray: Never point a gun at anyone, unless you mean to shoot him And if you shoot him, you better make sure he’s dead. Because if he ain’t dead, he’s gonna get up and try to kill you. That’s the only thing they taught us in the service that’s worth a god damn.

PROS –
1) A legendary actor playing a legendary character.

CONS  –
1) Without Sherlock Holmes’s factor, this movie is lifeless. All in all, it’s a boring dud thriller.

QUOTE –
Roger: But all that just told you he was married. How did you know he’d come to see you about his wife?
Sherlock Holmes: [smiles] Because when you’re a detective, and a man comes to see you, it’s usually about his wife.
