CULT – 1

VERDICT – 3/4

PROS –
1) The story of a revolution. The story of civilization. The story of the Soviet Union.
2) An animated movie is primarily targetting younger audiences and Halas and Batchelor justified this timeless novel with a stupendous adaptation.

CONS –
1) The novel is Orwellian and the ending is supposed to be bleak. The upbeat climax is against the spirit of the novel.

Marjane: I remember I led a peaceful, uneventful life as a little girl. I loved fries with ketchup, Bruce Lee was my hero, I wore Adidas sneakers and had two obsessions: Shaving my legs one day and being the last prophet of the galaxy.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

STORY – 1
DIRECTOR – 1
MUSIC – 1
CULT – 1

VERDICT – 4/4

PROS –
1) Visually one of the best super-hero movie. The third-act was psychedelic and trippy. The animation quality raised the bar too high for any future super-hero animation movie.
2) The plot follows King-Pin employing lady Doc Ock to resurrect his dead family by some particle collider. The experiment causes different versions of Spider-Man to appear in the same primary timeline. Out of all the dimensions, Peter B. Parker storyline and character was most interesting.
3) The Prowler is the Ebony Maw of this movie.
4) Sunflower (Post Malone and Swae Lee song)

CONS –

CULT – 0

VERDICT – 2/4

PROS –
1) Bill Hader as J.P. Spamley and his sidekick Gord were definitely the two best characters.
2) John C. Reilly as Ralph delivered as expected. The post-credit rick-rolling was spot on.

CONS –
1) The countless pop-culture references in every other movie are not making it better. It’s rather getting sickening.
2) The entire BuzzzTube plot was very dystopian and probably planted in the plot on purpose.
